I've come to the realization that I can't keep myself out of the kitchen from baking, cooking, and creating all the things! Take last night for example. I decided to take my love for peppermint mocha and OREO cookies to the next level and combine them in a batch of peppermint mocha OREO popcorn. There's a popcorn shop back home that I always visit when in town, and they literally have over 100 flavors. Their OREO flavor is my favorite and I've always wanted to try to make some at home. With the limited edition OREO flavors out, I couldn't resist as soon as I saw the peppermint ones.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 12 Peppermint OREO cookies
- 5 cups popped kettle corn popcorn
- 11 oz. milk chocolate chips
WHAT YOU DO
In a small mixing bowl, heat up the chocolate chips in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until melted.
In a single serve blender or food processor, chop up the OREO cookies until they become a fine, non chunky texture. Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl, then pour the melted chocolate on top.
Mix up the popcorn and melted chocolate until popcorn is evenly coated. Chocolate may be hot, so use a large spoon to mix. Then pour chopped OREO mixture on top. Mix again until entire mixture is fully coated, then serve.
This recipe makes a great dessert option for holiday gatherings. It's easy and makes a large amount, so you'll save some time in the kitchen while still feeding plenty with something they'll love. The
peppermint OREO cookies are a limited edition flavor, but I was able to find them at my local
Kroger, a great place to stock up on seasonal needs. The OREO cookies help make the celebration even more magical and make the great addition to any dessert!
