My Happy List

Yesterday I read this post from Rachel and it inspired me to stop and think about all the things that make me happy.  I'll admit I'm totally guilty of sometimes comparing my life to others.  And I'de be lying if I said I never thought someone had a better life than me through those comparisons.  I blame social media on this one.  But the truth is, there's always someone who's going to have more than you, and there's always someone who's going to have less than you.  That's why it's important for us to find happiness in our own lives rather than comparing others.

Sure, material things can be awesome, but sometimes we need to remember there's more to life than that.  I've put together a list of the little things in life that make me happy, but are easily overlooked.  My plan is to reflect back on this list whenever I feel I don't have as much as others, like when I compare my life to a Kardashian who bought a brand new Bentley and Celine bag - something I'll probably never be able to afford.  Or when I tell myself I'll be happy if I could get__(insert the next material item on my never ending wish list).

My Happy List:

- packing up my suitcase to go home

- leaving town on a plane

- being greeted by an excited dog when I get home

- fresh clean sheets

- warm, fresh out the dryer towels

- the smell of dessert baking in the oven

- the first snow fall

- the sound of thunderstorms

- wearing a new outfit for the first time

- waking up on Christmas morning

- holiday family gatherings

- the adrenaline rush on Black Friday

- the first sign of cool fall air

- bubble baths

I'm sure I could go on and on, but these are some of the main things that came to mind.  What's on your happy list?
