Good morning :)
I hope everyone had a good Mother's Day weekend!
This was my first time not spending Mother's Day with my mom or the family. It's times like these that make living so far away really suck! It was just Chris and I this time and I couldn't help but think about all the fun the family was having without us! The family crawfish boil pictures really topped it off. Such a tease! Whenever you see pictures of people circled around a table and digging into a huge batch of crawfish, you know it was a good time! That's just one of the things I love most about Louisiana. A simple crawfish boil will put a smile on your face and make you feel happy as if you've just hit the jackpot!
And speaking of happiness, that reminds me... This morning I was walking to my car, rushing like usual, and an old man made an effort to go out of his way, turn his head, smile at me and tell me good morning. As I looked at him, I noticed he was carrying a coffee in one hand, walking on crutches, with an amputated leg and still smiling. That reminded me to be thankful for the things we do have, rather than dwell on the things we don't. Most people usually think that their life would be ruined if they couldn't ever walk or run again, rather than think of what they could still do. This old man reminded me that life isn't always easy. You're going to face the unexpected, but hey that's life. I think it's important to remember that it gets better even if you think it won't. Look past those things that are dragging you down and be happy!
How could that little face not make you smile!?
